What CINEA / CEF AFIF means for charging infrastructure
CINEA is the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. For charging infrastructure, it manages calls under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), including the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF). AFIF supports mature infrastructure projects that accelerate the deployment of alternative fuels along the trans-European transport network (TEN-T).

The latest CEF-T-2026-AFIFGEN-COSTS call closed on 6 October 2026 at 17:00 Brussels time. We keep the page live because CINEA/CEF calls are recurring and the technical and financial conditions change between calls. Voltrelli can assess a project against the next applicable opportunity when it is published.
What the latest 2026 AFIF call supported
- Publicly accessible recharging pools dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles on the TEN-T network or at eligible nearby locations.
- For HDV charging, the 2026 road & air topic required high-power architectures centred on Megawatt Charging System (MCS) points of at least 1 MW, with eligible CCS 350 kW points in defined combinations.
- The call had a €130 million budget, an EU co-funding rate of up to 30% of eligible investment costs and a maximum grant of €10 million per grant agreement.
- Eligible projects also included electrification of airport ground operations. Requirements vary materially from one AFIF call to another, so each new call must be checked independently.
Who and what type of project fits
- Public or private legal entities established in an EU Member State or another country associated to CEF, subject to the call conditions.
- Projects must be mature and able to demonstrate the financing, permits, site rights and technical readiness required by the call.
- For the latest 2026 call, applicants also needed Member State support and evidence of institutional financing; the infrastructure must comply with AFIR and TEN-T requirements.

From funding concept to operational infrastructure
Voltrelli brings the hardware, software and operational capability needed after the funding decision — not only the equipment.
From European funding to infrastructure that operates every day
Voltrelli supports complex charging projects with a complete delivery model: technical concept, sizing, charging equipment, software integration, commissioning, commercial operation and post-implementation support.
Experience that reduces delivery risk
Since 2014, Voltrelli has developed and delivered electromobility infrastructure in Romania and international markets. Today, our track record includes more than 1,500 charging stations installed and a user base of more than 50,000 drivers.
Our portfolio includes strategic transport-corridor and high-power charging projects, together with software, monitoring and operational capabilities required after the equipment is installed.
